Forest Stewardship Council Certifies Print Tech
Mountainside NJ, November 4, 2008 - The SmartWood Program of the Rainforest Alliance has certified Print Tech of Mountainside, New Jersey, to Forest Stewardship Council Chain-of-Custody standards. FSC is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that promotes responsible management of the world’s forests.
Printed materials carrying the FSC logo are guaranteed to have been printed on paper that originated from managed forests, recycled paper or a combination of both.We consider the FSC Certification as our contract with the environment," said Russell Evans, Print Tech CEO. "Now our clients can partner with us to help reduce the environmental footprint of the printing process. By choosing FSC paper we are protecting the Earth’s forests for generations to come."
Compliance with the FSC Chain-of-Custody requires a printer to implement stringent methodology from raw material phase to the finished product. "Rigid production procedures require separating an FSC job from other jobs, according to Print Tech's Executive Vice President, Gary Alessio. "The ordering and storage of FSC paper, job orders, and even invoices all need to be separated from other work in-house. Although slightly more organization is involved, we believe that FSC Certification is another step in being part of the solution."
Print Tech CFO Dan Schulz believes the FSC Certification is well worth the extra effort. "As many of our clients weigh the ecological impact of their printed materials, the FSC Certification becomes a strong selling point. The more our clients understand FSC, the more likely they are willing to join us in a partnership to protect the environment."
